Professional counselling and/or coaching may help with:  anxiety and emotional overwhelm, stress and burnout, life transitions, identity and self-understanding, relationship challenges, emotional regulation, personal growth and much more.

It provides a safe, confidential space to explore thoughts, emotions and life challenges with structured support. Sessions are person-centred, focused, collaborative, supportive and tailored to your individual needs. The pace is guided by you.

Counselling and coaching are not about fixing you, there is no assumption that you are broken.  It’s about understanding what you are carrying and building tools to help you move forward.

Counselling & Coaching FAQ’s

  • Counselling provides a confidential space to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences that may feel difficult, confusing, or overwhelming. It can help you gain insight, develop self-understanding, and work through challenges at your own pace.

  • Coaching supports personal growth, clarity, and forward movement. It can be helpful if you’re feeling stuck, facing decisions, or wanting to make changes in your life while building confidence and direction.

  • Both counselling and coaching are person-centred approaches, meaning the work is led by you, your needs, and what matters most to you. The key difference lies in focus and intention.

Counselling tends to explore emotional experiences, patterns, and challenges that may be rooted in the past or present. It can support you to better understand yourself, process difficult feelings, and make sense of experiences that may be affecting your wellbeing or relationships.

Coaching is typically more future-focused. It supports clarity, direction, and change by helping you identify goals, values, and practical steps forward. Coaching often focuses on growth, decision-making, and building confidence or momentum in specific areas of life.

There is often natural overlap between the two, and we can discuss which approach, or combination, feels most appropriate for you during an introductory session.

  • You don’t need to decide in advance. The introductory session offers a chance to talk through what you’re looking for and explore which approach feels most suitable for you.

  • Your first session is an opportunity to begin getting to know one another and to set a foundation for our work together.

We’ll talk about what’s brought you here, what you’re hoping for, and any relevant background you feel comfortable sharing. There’s no expectation to know exactly what to say or where to begin, we’ll take things at a pace that feels right for you.

I’ll also explain how sessions work, answer any questions you may have, and check in about what you need in order to feel safe and supported. The focus is on creating a calm, respectful space where you can begin to speak openly and honestly.

  • Clarity and safety are essential for meaningful therapeutic work.

At the outset, we agree clear boundaries around confidentiality, expectations, and how we will work together. This helps create a secure, professional framework where you can speak openly and feel supported.

Confidentiality is respected in line with professional and ethical standards, with clear explanations provided about any limits to confidentiality where safety may be a concern. Having these agreements in place ensures transparency, trust, and a shared understanding from the very beginning.
